Red Start in winter

This little Black red start has been coming to the casa for the winter for 3 years. He comes alone no wife or friends he roosts in the climber in the court yard.

 I'm not sure how long they live, but as he comes alone it must be the same one. I'm amazed why he comes each year he stays until the weather gets warmer then pops off , who knows where. 

He is so cute he watches us going in and out of the kitchen. We don't see any Black red starts in the summer here.

They are a little like a wagtail as they bob their tails.  They are one of my favorite little birds. 

This is a great way to use up extra eggies. I made this yummy Pavlova with just 3 eggs. You get your 5 a day too.

My girls are so happy today the warm sun has hatched lots of grubs and goodies. They are now laying their eggs in these lovely daisies.

Funny Girls. 

I bet you didn't think chickens had a sense of  humour. Well mine do, they thought it was funny to lay their eggs under the Pampas grass. Even with gloves, hood up, and long sleeves I still managed to get my face cut.

I don't think we are going to get many artichokes this year if the girls keep eating the buds. 

Mable seems to think she's a Robin sitting on my weeder funny bird. She is still the only one laying.  

I have just put the girls to bed funny little hens are still sitting on top of  each other. Mable and Martha let Henrietta go in then they tuck under her wings so darn cute. Mable is still the only one laying but we are having lots of fun watching them it hardly matters.
